Inssi is a mobile app provided by Heranta Oy ("we"). It records a practice drive with the phone's cameras and sensors and produces an assessment that follows the criteria of the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom's driving-test guideline (TRAFICOM/361579/03.04.03.01/2026). The app is a practice aid. The assessment is not an assessment by Traficom, a driving examiner or a driving school, and it does not guarantee passing the driving test or predict its outcome. Neither Heranta Oy nor the Inssi service is a driving-test assessment system approved by Traficom, and the service has no official status in the driving examination.
The service requires an account (Sign in with Apple). Users must be at least 15 years old. If the user is 15–17, a guardian accepts these terms and the privacy notice in the app on the user's phone under their own name before the first drive; the acceptance and its time are stored with the account. The app does not verify the guardian's identity; giving a guardian's acceptance on someone else's behalf is prohibited. Practice driving is always subject to the requirements of the Finnish Driving Licence Act (386/2011) on learner permits, instructors and vehicles – the app does not replace them.
The phone must be fixed in a mount before the drive. The driver must not touch the phone while driving. The buttons shown during the drive are meant for the instructor or another passenger. Responsibility for driving the vehicle, for the lawfulness of the driving instruction and for obeying traffic rules lies with the driver and the person responsible for the instruction (the learner-permit holder or the driving instructor). We are not liable for damage caused by using the app while driving or by decisions made on the basis of the assessment.
The road camera's video is stored only on the user's own phone; it is never transferred to the server. Audio is used solely to detect the turn indicator (the relay's clicking sound): detection runs on the phone right after the drive, after which the audio track is permanently removed from the recording. Speech is not analysed, stored or transferred. Other road users and number plates may be visible in the video. The user is responsible for handling and sharing the video lawfully; the video is not meant for publication. The driver camera's image is never stored – only head-pose angles are computed from it.
Some features are paid in-app purchases (Apple App Store). Prices are shown before purchase. Purchases are handled by Apple; refunds follow App Store policy. A purchased mock test can be used on the account the purchase is linked to.
The mock-test analysis is a one-off digital service produced from the practice drive the user has recorded. The analysis starts at the user's request when the drive is ended or when analysis is requested from the Drives view. A purchased mock test is consumed only once the analysis has been produced successfully: if the analysis fails for a technical reason (for example a server error or insufficient data), the test is not consumed and can be used again. The Learner-permit year is a licence for a fixed 12-month period that does not renew automatically.
The user can create a public link to a report. Anyone with the link can view the report without signing in. The link contains no video and not the user's name, but it does contain the route on a map. The route may contain location data from which the user's home, school, workplace or other regularly visited place can be inferred. The user must consider this before sharing the link and share it only with people who may see the route. The user can delete the link at any time in the app.
The app, the assessment model and the report format belong to Heranta Oy. The user owns the video and sensor data they record. The user grants us the right to process sensor data and reports to provide the service. Only pseudonymised data is used to develop the assessment model, as described in section 3 of the privacy notice, and the user can object to it in the app's Account view.
We may change the service, its pricing and these terms. Material changes are announced in the app, and continued use requires accepting the new terms. The user may stop using the service and delete their account and all their data in the app at any time (Account → Delete account).
The service requires a compatible device (iPhone XS/XR or newer, iOS 17 or later) and sufficient camera, location and sensor data. The analysis may fail or be incomplete because of, for example, a weak GPS signal, a wrongly positioned phone, a covered camera, an overheated phone, a lost network connection or a technical fault. The report states what data the drive lacked. A technically failed analysis does not consume a purchased mock test (section 5).
The service is provided as is. The assessment depends on the quality of the sensors and map data (Digiroad) and may contain errors – for example a speed limit may be outdated or the GPS position inaccurate. We are not liable for indirect damage to the extent that limiting liability is permitted by law. Nothing in these terms limits the user's rights under mandatory consumer-protection legislation.
These terms are governed by Finnish law. A consumer may refer a dispute to the Finnish Consumer Disputes Board (kuluttajariita.fi).
